of the butt fumbles is a man named woody johnson. he was a chairman of mitt romney's campaign this year. he hosted a luncheon for big time republican bundlers. the audience was reince priebus who attended the meeting. it was his rnc who hired the firm ran by the improprieties to run the voter registration efforts in five swing states. when that firm, ran by that guy with the shady past was inevitably accused of doing shady things this year with voter registration, the republican party in all of those states had to fire the firm which ended voter registration in the final crucial week before the election. there was no plan b. thanks, reince. the republicans just had to give up registering voters in those states. maybe that came up in today's meeting. also potentially on the meeting today, the rnc field program, part of the ground effort that was just swamped this year. the republicans get out to vote technology crashed early on election day. one campaign telling the daily beast, everything about the system that was supposed to work actually failed. so these dozens of big-time republican dono

romney sits. that will haunt mitt romney for a long time, 47%. let's move on 0. on the swings states, check this out here. having a little bit of a slow response rate. in the swing states, look at where president obama's percentages are at. he did better in the swing states than overall. mitt romney's 47.2%. 12 swings states broadly outlined. we throw in pennsylvania and a minnesota among 0 others. the nonswing states, the president still has over 50.7% there. mitt romney, there's that number again, 47%. let's move on to the margin of victory in the swing states. the president had a four-point margin of victory in the nonswing states. it was closer to three points. let's move on to where he won and how it counted. here, 62% of electoral votes for the president. 332 out of 538. just six presidents, six presidents, have won at least two elections with 51% of the vote or more and not since eisenhower has any president done that. the president, though, only won 22% of all counties. that's the lowest percentage out of 689. that's the lowest percentage of counties that any one president ha

, presidential candidate mitt romney didn't want to tell the american people how he was going to do his tax reform. because it certainly is not possible to get to the revenue number that the president's called for, $1.6 trillion, be without raising the rates and i would point out that the bipartisan simpson-bowles commission assumes in their numbers that those rates will go up. so when they did tax reform, they did it from a starting point that assumed the revenue from those rates going up and the last point on the revenue i would make, alex, the total amount of revenue called for in the bipartisan simpson-bowles commission report, is more revenue than the president's calling for at $1.6 trillion. and the president's $1.6 trillion is less than the $5 trillion that would come in over the next ten years if we go over the cliff. >> josh, i want to open this up to our panel in new york for a second. are we to believe then, as the representative van hollen says, that the numbers just weren't crutched appropriately in 2011 or -- i just think that is the most marked example of how dramatically thi

to that. first, the great irony here is four weeks ago, mitt romney and paul ryan and republicans are pummeling the president for $716 billion for medicare savings that extended the life of medicare. they said they want to add all the costs back in. hopefully they are back to the position of the ryan budget to recognize they're important savings. number one. number two, the president's plan, budget, contains medicare savings than the ryan-republican plan did. we'd like to see the specifics, what are they proposing with respect to cuts to medicare? >> we can go around the healthcare barnyard again and again, about how you can't spend that money twice. and how medicare actuary said that. the $716 billion. you can either use it to shore up medicare or use it to pay for obamacare. >> right. right. but the fact is the position that mitt romney took as a presidential candidate was to put all of those costs back in to medicare. which would have meant it went insolvent eight years sooner. >> bret: but we're not talking about romney anymore. we're talking what about you'll do to find a sol
